Kansas State all-time leaders in rushing yards: 12: Cornelius Davis (1,881)

Back in the 1960s, the Wildcats had a great running back on their team by the name of Cornelius Davis. Davis had a monster year in 1966 where he rushed for 1,028 yards on 210 carries. The team WAS Cornelius Davis that season, as the Cats went winless in 1966 under head coach Doug Weaver.

The win numbers for K-State improved, but Davis’ numbers did not. He went from over 1,000 in 1966 to 628 in 1967 and just 225 in 1968.

Davis was drafted in the fifth round of the 1968 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings, but never went on to do much in the professional league. His one good season in 1966 makes him memorable to true K-State fans, but his declining production left many wondering what could have been.

Cornelius Davis still sits 12th all-time in rushing yards with 1,881.
