Kansas City Chiefs GM Search

Brett Veach – Chiefs Co-Director of Player Personnel

In the minds of many in the local media, the front-runner for the Kansas City Chiefs GM job is an in-house candidate. An internal candidate would provide the Chiefs with the most stability and least transition. That candidate is current co-Director of Player Personnel, Brett Veach.

When Andy Reid came over to the Chiefs from Philadelphia, he brought along a number of people he had worked with. Brett Veach was one of those people. Since then, Veach has made a good name for himself as a solid front office guy. That includes being considered for the Bills GM search earlier this year.

However, there is a rub here. Brett Veach was expected to share duties with Mike Borgonzi this year to fill the void of the departed Chris Ballard. It seems like this would be a very big jump from Veach’s previous duties to the role of GM.

Is Brett Veach ready to be an NFL general manager? That’s a tough question to answer. The fact he was splitting the duties of the guy below John Dorsey in the totem pole isn’t a positive argument there.
