ROYALS WHO DESERVE TO BE ALL-STARS – NUMBER 1: JASON VARGAS

If anyone had told me that Jason Vargas would have had the type of season he’s having so far, I’d have laughed at them and told them to get lost. Man I would have looked like a fool!

The craziest part of Vargas’ season is that he very well could START the All-Star Game for the American League!

Vargas is dealing this season. He’s posting a 2.29 ERA and 1.134 WHIP in 15 starts and has an 11-3 record, good for best in the MLB. He was the first pitcher to get to ten wins and has just looked like the kind of pitcher that every team wants at the top of their rotation.

The craziest part of Vargas’ season is that he very well could START the All-Star Game for the American League! While I don’t see that happening due to not being as big of a name as say Chris Sale or Dallas Keuchel, Vargas technically deserves to be the starter.

This is the final year of Vargas’ contract in Kansas City, so if he keeps these performances up, he’ll no doubt be pitching for the American League in Miami in a few weeks.

Pitchers don’t get voted in so Royals fans can’t help Vargas out, but it shouldn’t matter. The Royals top pitcher should be making a trip down to Florida and hopefully he pitches well when his inning comes.
