Kansas City Chiefs Top GM Candidates #5
George Paton: Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings don’t make a ton of headlines these days, but a popular name for the Kansas City Chiefs GM job might be George Paton. Currently the Vikings Assistant General Manager, Paton was a front-runner in the 49ers GM search earlier this offseason. That should have him on the Chiefs radar.
George Paton gets a lot of credit for being one of the driving forces in helping the Vikings build a solid roster. It wasn’t that long ago that Minnesota was a bit of a dumpster fire. However, the new leadership, including Paton, has done an amazing job of getting the team back to a place where they can contend.
The word on George Paton: Primary responsibilities in pro scouting; well-respected; will work well with any HC; Vikings ranked third in DEF.

There really isn’t any reason why Paton wouldn’t be interested in the Kansas City job. He’s clearly looking for a GM position, and the Chiefs have a lot to offer. This is one of the options that will simply come down to how well he interviews with Clark Hunt.
