Kansas City Chiefs Top GM Candidates #9

Eric DeCosta: Baltimore Ravens

In terms of credentials and desirability, Eric DeCosta should actually be much higher on the list for the Kansas City Chiefs. However, it has been long known that DeCosta intends to take the Baltimore Ravens top job once Ozzie Newsome finally retires. However, he may be getting tired of waiting. That could put him in the mix in KC.

If the Chiefs could find a way to entice Eric DeCosta out of Baltimore, it would be an absolute coup. There is not a more sought after executive in the NFL than DeCosta. The fact that he’s stayed with Baltimore for so long has been equal parts amazing and frustrating.

Ultimately, this one really doesn’t have much of a chance of happening. DeCosta is firmly entrenched where he is and has no intentions of leaving. The Baltimore GM job is as good as his whenever Ozzie Newsome retires. That means he has a good job with upward mobility and doesn’t have to pick up his family and move.
