Kansas City Royals Single-Season Home Runs #4 (tied)

Dean Palmer – 34 (1998)

“Who?” You shouldn’t feel ashamed if you’re asking that question right now. The 1998 season was one of many unforgettable years for the Kansas City Royals between their World Series runs. However, when he was signed by KC, Dean Palmer had a solid reputation as a veteran power hitter.

There really isn’t anything that stands out about the Royals in the 90s, but this was a solid year for Dean Palmer. This would be his only season as an All-Star, and he earned his first of two Silver Slugger awards. Unfortunately, that didn’t mean much for a Kansas City team that just couldn’t get anything together.

It’s tough being the best player on a bad team, but Dean Palmer made the most of it. His time in Kansas City led to his getting some notice in the baseball world. Ultimately though, he’s got his name pretty high up there on the Royals top ten home runs list and it will likely stay there for a good long while.
