Kansas City Royals Single-Season Home Runs #4 (tied)

Danny Tartabull – 34 (1987)

If I were to tell a casual fan of the Kansas City Royals that only one player made this list twice, the immediate assumption would probably be that it was Bo Jackson or George Brett. However, it is actually Danny Tartabull who owns that distinction.

It’s really quite amazing that Danny Tartabull wasn’t able to earn All-Star honors in a season where he hit 34 home runs. That’s what happens when you’re competing with the likes of George Bell, Kirby Puckett, Ricky Henderson, Dave Winfield, and other superstars.

For many fans, Danny Tartabull isn’t really a top name in Royals history. Kansas City didn’t do much in the four years he spent with the organization. However, you can hardly blame that on his individual efforts. 34 home runs is quite a statement.
