Kansas City Royals Single-Season Home Runs #8

Bo Jackson – 32 (1989)

One of the most iconic athletes of his short pro sports career, Bo Jackson is also one of the most popular figures in Kansas City Royals history. Running up the wall to make a catch, snapping bats like twigs when he struck out, and oh yes, mashing home runs like he did during the 1989 season.

Injuries got the best of Jackson throughout most of his career. Hardly surprising when you consider he was a two-sport star. However, it prevented him from meeting the lofty expectations placed upon him.

So it should come as no surprise that the 1989 season was also his healthiest year, and saw him play in the most games. This would also be the only year that he would make the MLB All-Star game. Bo Jackson is the ultimate “what if” player in pro sports history. Certainly many Royals fans wonder what would’ve happened if he had just chosen baseball.
