Kansas City Royals Single-Season Home Runs #10 (tied)

Chili Davis – 30 (1997)

Much of the Kansas City Royals history of the late 90s can be described as “cheap veterans that didn’t work out”. During that time the Royals, one of the poorest teams in baseball, had to make due with mid tier veterans to carry the load. Most never worked out. However, Chili Davis made an impact during his short time in KC.

Chili Davis only spent one year with the Royals, but he made it a solid one. In fact, he set a personal best for home runs in that 1997 season. Unfortunately, it didn’t amount to much else for KC as they finished with under 70 wins that year.

One of the more famous journeymen in MLB history, Chili Davis was really just passing through Kansas City. This was close to the end of his career, so it’s not as though he had a ton left to give. He would go on to play just two more seasons in the pros after this stint.
