Every Royals first-round draft pick since 2000: Daniel Lynch (2018)

The Royals had several first-round picks in the 2018 MLB Draft and their third and final one was Daniel Lynch out of Virginia. At just 22 years old, Lynch is a pivotal pitcher in the organization and could hopefully join Singer and Kowar as a starter in the rotation in a few years.

Lynch pitched in both Wilmington and Lexington in 2018, posting an ERA of 1.58 between the two leagues. Lynch did well in Lexington’s run to the top of the mountain and looked the role of a legitimate starting pitcher.

Of course, he’s still very young and will need more work in the minor leagues before getting his major league call-up. It is possible, however, that Royals fans get to see Daniel Lynch near the end of the 2019 season and that’s exciting to think about.

This kid could be special for the Kansas City Royals.
