Every Royals first-round draft pick since 2000: Brade Singer (2018)

With a rebuild on the horizon, the Kansas City Royals knew they’d need to get some arms for both the rotation and in the bullpen. They aimed for rotation arms in the 2018 draft, taking Florida pitcher Brady Singer with their first pick.

Singer, the 18th overall selection in the 2018 MLB Draft, had a nice career during his time at Florida. It included a College World Series in 2017 and another appearance in the prestigious event the following year.

In Singer’s start in the Super Regionals, he went 6.2 innings and allowed just two runs off of four hits while striking out nine. If that truly was a glimpse of what’s to come for Singer in a Royals uniform, these next few years are going to be quite special.

Singer made his MLB debut in 2020 and he gave Royals fans a lot of hope as to what kind of pitcher he could be. He threw 64.1 innings and finished his rookie season with a 4.06 ERA, which might not seem incredible, but for a rookie pitching in a weird season like 2020, they were promising numbers.

The future looks bright for Singer as a member of the Royals.
