Every Royals first-round draft pick since 2000: Aaron Crow (2009)

Aaron Crow might have made it to Kansas City and played in some big games with the Royals, but he’s still a disappointment for the team. Crow was the 12th overall pick in 2009 after pitching for the Missouri Tigers and actually managed to make it to one All-Star Game in his career.

Crow had a nice rookie season for the Royals in 2011, throwing in 62 innings with a 2.76 ERA. That season saw him make it to his lone All-Star Game, where he likely made it to due to the Royals needing a representative since every team has to have one.

That was as good as it got for Aaron Crow and the Royals, as he went downhill pretty quickly. He was never terrible, but after 2014, he was traded to the Marlins for Brian Flynn and Reid Redman. Crow never threw a pitch for the Marlins due to injury and later spent time in the Cubs farm system.

Aaron Crow is currently out of the league and knowing the Royals could have had Mike Trout 12th overall makes this pick even worse. We all know how good Trout is and yet the Royals drafted a pitcher who only had four major league seasons and then was out of baseball altogether.

Crow wasn’t terrible, but he didn’t deliver as the 12th overall pick.
