WHIT MERRIFIELD

Has anyone on the Kansas City Royals been on more of a hot streak this season than Whit Merrifield is right now? Seriously, it looks as though “Two-Hit Whit” has re-emerged this season, currently riding a 13-game hitting streak for the boys in blue.

Merrifield has jumped to having the second highest batting average for the team, with .274 in 33 games and 117 at bats. His slash line sits at .274/.328/.427 and he sits behind only Eric Hosmer as far as team batting averages go (Hosmer’s is batting .303).

While the second base position has always been one that the Kansas City Royals have struggled to find consistency at, but Whit Merrifield is starting to slowly prove that perhaps he could be a long term answer there. He’s no Frank White, but Merrifield is at least giving this lackluster Royals offense some juice, and that’s all you can ask for right now.
