Kansas City Chiefs: Positive storylines from 2017 offseason
DRAFTING A NEW RUNNING BACK
With all of the talk surrounding the Chiefs draft class and how most of them won’t be able to contribute right away, Kareem Hunt became arguably the biggest name on the offense.
Hunt was picked by the Chiefs in the third round of the draft and the team actually traded up to nab the Toledo running back. Running back was a major need for the Chiefs, as Jamaal Charles was a shell of his former self, Spencer Ware slowed down in 2016, and Charcandrick West was pretty worthless.
In other words, Kareem Hunt is the likeliest of the 2017 rookies to come in and help the team right away. While Ware will probably begin the season as the starter, don’t be surprised to see Hunt eventually take over.
If the Chiefs landed their franchise quarterback and franchise running back in the same draft, then we’ll definitely be talking about the 2017 NFL Draft for years to come.
