The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a 12-4 season where they won the AFC West and fell in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs. What have been the most positive storylines surrounding the team this offseason?

When it comes to the national media’s opinion on the Kansas City Chiefs, it’s usually one-sided and is much different from what the rest of Kansas City is thinking. Case in point, national media pundits are saying that Patrick Mahomes has a legitimate chance to steal Alex Smith‘s job away in 2017.

Everyone in Kansas City knows that 2017 is Smith’s year to quarterback the Chiefs. The only way I see Mahomes even sniffing playing time is if Smith has a major injury and the team is out of contention.

Even if Smith gets hurt, it’d probably be smart for the Chiefs to play Tyler Bray over Mahomes. There’s just no need to throw Mahomes to the wolves this early when the point of drafting him was to let him learn on the bench.

With the “quarterback controversy” in Kansas City, I thought it’d be a fun post to write about the positive stories from this offseason, starting with the obvious.
