JORGE SOLER

When the KC Royals traded Wade Davis for Jorge Soler, most people knew that the Cubs would win the deal early on. That’s because the Cubs only currently have Davis for this season (unless, of course, they decide to re-sign him) whereas the Royals have control over Soler for four total seasons.

With that said, fans will need to be patient with Jorge Soler. He’s not going to be a masher at the plate this season and is going to see his fair share of struggles. That’s to be expected for a guy who wasn’t used to starting consistently in Chicago.

Soler will be a project for this team and it’s showing right now, as the right fielder is only slashing .157/.283/.275 so far in 16 games and 51 at bats. Soler crushed the one home run he hit this year (and I mean CRUSHED), but has struck out 17 times.

If fans can be patient with Soler, then the whole trading Wade Davis thing might not seem so painful. If fans are expecting Soler to heavily contribute this year, then I’m sorry to say that you’re going to be disappointed.
