KELVIN HERRERA

The other day I discussed how Kelvin Herrera wasn’t really impressing anyone as the closer for the KC Royals. I don’t think anyone would disagree with my post, but Herrera did manage to save the first game on Sunday against the Twins.

Herrera hasn’t had a hitless ninth inning since he faced the Baltimore Orioles on May 13th.

Not all good relievers are destined to be closers and Herrera is proving that. Very rarely does he go out in the ninth inning and escape without any sort of damage.

In fact, Herrera hasn’t had a hitless ninth inning since he faced the Baltimore Orioles on May 13th. Since then, the flame throwing reliever has allowed at least one hit in each of his four appearances.

Royals fans are used to the dominance that were Greg Holland and Wade Davis and that’s what makes seeing Herrera struggle that much more difficult. Those two guys are both having success with their new teams and the Royals have a guy who struggles to shut things down.

Perhaps Kelvin Herrera won’t garner the amount of attention that analysts think he will on the trade market as a result of his weak stretches of work lately.
