The KC Chiefs have already seen two of their own named to the NFL Top 100 rankings, a countdown that is voted on by the NFL players themselves. Did linebacker Justin Houston deserve to make the cut?

It was announced last week that KC Chiefs outside linebacker Justin Houston was named as the 76th best player from the 2016 season, per the NFL Top 100. As a few guys noted in the video, Houston barely played in 2016, but when he did play at his peak, he was a beast.

The one performance where Houston kicked butt and took names was against the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football where the $101 million man wrecked havoc with three sacks. It wasn’t even fair watching Houston barrel through the Broncos offensive line and take down Trevor Siemian.

Hell, had the Broncos not been getting away with blatant holds, Houston could have probably had AT LEAST five sacks on the night. He also had a safety on Siemian in that game as well.

Aside from that game, however, Justin Houston didn’t have much of an impact for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016. He only appeared in six games (five regular season games and one playoff game) notching 25 tackles and four sacks during that time.

The video included in the tweet above goes onto say that the voters might still be swayed by Houston’s historic 2014 campaign when he had 22 sacks in a season and nearly broke Michael Strahan‘s record. That happened two seasons ago and the rest of the league still respects Houston for that season.

While Houston dropped significantly on this year’s countdown (he came in at 25 last year), it was surprising to see him make the cut all together. Since inking his long-term extension before the 2015 season began, Houston really hasn’t done much for the Chiefs, and that should be concerning for the fan base.

Once the best player on the Kansas City Chiefs team, Justin Houston has become a question mark for the organization. Will he ever be healthy enough to play a full season again? If he does play a full season, will he make the same kind of plays that he once did?

There are a lot of questions swirling around Justin Houston’s future in the NFL and they’re all legitimate ones. Obviously Chiefs Kingdom would love to see the former Georgia Bulldog get back to what he once was, but only time will tell if that will ever happen.
