The Kansas City Royals are finally on a roll! Fans have been hoping the offense would heat up all season and they finally have, sweeping the Orioles in a three-game series this past weekend. Now the Yankees are coming to town.

The KC Royals are heating up at the best possible time, as they just got done seeing the AL East beasts Orioles and now will be welcoming in another tough AL East team in the form of the New York Yankees.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, expected the Kansas City Royals to sweep the Baltimore Orioles this past weekend, but they did just that. The offense has finally come to life and the starting pitching has continued (for the most part) to be dominant out on the mound. Plus, the bullpen is starting to take flight also.

Are the pieces finally in place for the 2017 KC Royals to make a run? I guess we’ll find out when the Yankees come to town on Tuesday for a three-game series. Who should fans be keeping an eye on in this series? Let’s take a looky loo.

ALEX GORDON

Until he starts to perform at a consistently decent level at the plate, Alex Gordon is likely going to make this list every week, and why shouldn’t he? The Royals are paying the guy $72 million and ever since he inked that deal, he’s done next to nothing at the dish.

Were it not for his defensive heroics in the outfield, fans would likely have completely turned on Gordon by now. He’s slashing .152/.264/.192 in 35 games and 125 at bats so far this season. In other words, Alex Gordon has been terrible.

The Royals are in a tough spot with Gordon because they have no choice but to keep playing him. Benching a guy with that type of contract would do the club no good and they can’t option him. Unless Gordon gets hurt and has to land on the disabled list for awhile, the Royals have to keep putting him in the lineup.

Sorry to break all of that to you.
