MOST DESPISED ATHLETES IN KC – NUMBER 9: PEYTON MANNING

While Peyton Manning seems like a nice enough guy, no one was happier about him retiring after the 2015 NFL season than Kansas City Chiefs fans.

The reasoning for that, you ask? Well, to put it bluntly – Manning kicked the Chiefs asses time and time again. Throughout his 17-year career, Manning posted a regular season record of 12-2 against the Chiefs. If you count the playoffs, he was 14-2.

You read that right. Peyton Manning only lost to Kansas City twice. Honestly, the craziest takeaway from that is that had Manning left after 2014 like many thought he might, he’d have only lost to the Chiefs once during his entire career.

Manning owned the Chiefs while in Indianapolis, so when he decided to sign with the Broncos in 2012, Chiefs fans were not happy. They’d be playing Peyton Manning at least twice a year for the next what would be four seasons.

Peyton Manning only lost to Kansas City twice.

During that time, Manning continued to reign. He went 7-1 against KC in that span and led Denver to four straight AFC West crowns. The rest of the West had zero chance against the Sheriff.

The two KC wins against Manning came in 2004 and 2015. Those games were entirely different tales for the future Hall of Fame quarterback. In 2004’s match-up, he threw for 472 yards and five touchdowns. Neither the Colts or Chiefs had good defenses that season and the Chiefs got the final punch on the scoreboard to ensure a victory.

In 2015, Manning had one of the worst games of his entire career, and it came against a team who he had previously owned for the duration of his time in the NFL. In that game, Manning only completed five passes out of 20 attempts for 35 yards and was picked off four times. It was not pretty (though for Chiefs fans, it was magical).

That was the game where all NFL fans began to realize that Peyton Manning wasn’t good at football anymore. He was benched in that game in favor of Brock Osweiler and didn’t play again until the final game of the regular season.

While the Chiefs finally got revenge against Peyton Manning, the Sheriff still owned the Kansas City Chiefs during his career. That’s reason enough for Chiefs fans to loathe him.
