Kansas City Sports Roundup

Missouri Tigers

They may not be based out of the city, but the Missouri Tigers still make up a big part of Kansas City sports. It has been a tough past couple of years for Mizzou, but the school is working hard to turn things around. New hires for both the football and men’s basketball teams appear to be making major strides in reviving their programs.

Football Team Searches For Answers At Cornerback

There are a lot of things changing for Missouri Tigers football, and the cornerback is one of the biggest. There is a complete rebuild going on at the position as the veterans at the position have moved on. The players in line to start this year have a total of one start between them.

Men’s Basketball Avoids Postseason Ban Despite Poor Acadmics

The Mizzou men’s basketball team will avoid a ban on postseason play. That comes despite a very low Academic Progress Rate for the school’s athletics. Missouri is currently sitting on the edge of acceptability for academics in the NCAA. Drop any further, and there will be some major issues.

Scandal Hits Missouri Gymnastics Team

A report has come out that says Missouri gymnastics head coach Shannon Welker has mishandled athletes dealing with injuries. The report covers the story of Jordyn Doherty and how she claims to have been treated following a foot injury. If true, this is another black eye for Mizzou athletics.
