Best Kansas City sports nicknames #14

Mike Moustakas – Royals: “Moose”

Nicknames that play on person’s name are usually my least favorite. However, I’ll make an exception for the man who inspires “Moose” calls during Kansas City Royals games. A nickname that is easy to chant or call out is always fun at live events. That’s enough to get Mike Moustakas on this list.

Of course, it helps that Moustakas is a pretty big guy. I’d hate to think we were yelling “Moooooose” at a guy who was 5’10 and 180 lbs. The Royals slugger has definitely emerged with that name this year, showing off the power that fans had been hoping for the past few years.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though Mike Moustakas is destined to remain in Kansas City. With the team being as bad as it is right now, Moustakas is understandably the target of many trade rumors. More than likely, he’ll be playing in a different uniform at some point this year.
