MATT STRAHM

At the beginning of the season, no one took more crap than Matt Strahm, and he deserved all of the crap thrown his way then. Now, however, Strahm has looked like how he did in 2016.

Since returning to the Royals after spending a week in Triple-A, Strahm has not allowed a run. He’s lowered his ERA from 47.25 to 11.81 in his four appearances since returning to the big leagues and has looked like the Matt Strahm of a season ago.

A lot of this season’s success hinged on how well Strahm could be in the seventh inning and now he’s showing that he’s capable of being that reliable reliever out of the pen. The only sucky part is that he hasn’t been thrown into a lot of critical situations due to how bad the rest of this Royals team is.

The good news with Matt Strahm is that he’s a very young guy and the Royals have been able to fix his mechanical errors whenever there is one (or several). If he can keep pitching scoreless innings, that ERA will drop down to a respectable number in no time.
