C+. . . ESPN. MEL KIPER

Mel Kiper is the lowest grade on the list, giving the Chiefs a C+ for their picks in the 2017 NFL Draft. He, like all of the others, stated that the future of Mahomes in the NFL will be the telling factor for this draft.

Kiper thought that the Chiefs reached on both Kpassagnon and Chesson, but did think that Hunt could jump right in and contribute alongside Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West (though I’m not sure if West will make the team honestly).

"Tanoh Kpassagnon is an intriguing, developmental prospect with upside, but there were better defenders available at that point in the second round. I thought he was more of a fourth-round pick. Kareem Hunt should help immediately alongside Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West. Needing to add some pass-catchers for Smith, all Kansas City came away with was Jehu Chesson, who underwhelmed in 2016 and was taken about 40 picks too high."

I was a little surprised with the Jehu Chesson pick as well, as there appeared to be plenty of better receiver options on the board at that moment. The Chiefs must have saw something they really liked in the young wideout, but I don’t see him contributing right away.

Kiper’s grade was the lowest for Kansas City, but it was still pretty reasonable considering they didn’t draft any immediate starters.
