K State Wildcats linebacker Elijah Lee is headed to the NFL. The KSU star was drafted with the 14th pick of the 7th round by the Minnesota Vikings.

The K State Wildcats saw their second player heading to the NFL as Elijah Lee was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings. The star linebacker for KSU was taken with the 14th pick of the 7th round. He joins star pass rusher Jordan Willis in the pros. For Lee, this will be an opportunity to showcase his talents on a team with a pretty good defense.

Elijah Lee was projected by NFL.com to go in the 6th or 7th round of the draft, so being selected where he was is really no surprise. The Kansas State product didn’t come into the draft with a ton of hype, which can really be said of most Big XII players this year.

While at Kansas State, Elijah Lee was an incredibly productive player for the Wildcats. In his senior year, Lee racked up 110 tackles, including 6.5 for a loss and 1.5 sacks. He also grabbed a pair of interceptions. The performance was good enough to garner All-BigXII honors.

The Minnesota Vikings are getting a good player in Elijah Lee, even if it is without a lot of fanfare. Lee is a hardnosed linebacker who plays every down with maximum effort. He may not crack the starting lineup for the Vikes right away, but don’t be surprised if he is a major factor for the team down the road.

With the K State Wildcats putting two players into the NFL, there should be some traction for future recruiting. The Big XII as a whole didn’t have many players drafted this year, so even just two will carry some weight. That’s good news for the KSU football program moving forward.
