The Kansas City Chiefs have added a legitimate running back threat and they did so in the form of Kareem Hunt out of Toledo. Running back was a major need for the Chiefs and they’ve addressed it within the first 100 picks of the draft.

Well, so far Chiefs Kingdom has to be pretty happy with how the 2017 NFL Draft is going for their beloved KC Chiefs. In just three rounds, they’ve nabbed their quarterback of the future, a guy with the ability to be a dominant pass rusher, and now their future running back of the future in Kareem Hunt.

The Chiefs actually had traded their earlier third round pick for Mahomes, but they traded up again to draft Kareem Hunt. Hunt, a shifty back out of Toledo, is an excellent pick here and could end up being one of the best running back prospects in this entire class. That’s a huge compliment too when looking at how deep this class is for rushers.

In four years at Toledo, Hunt racked up 4,945 yards off of 782 carries. He was Toledo’s biggest and most effective weapon and showed that with his 44 trips into the end zone.

The Kansas City Chiefs needed a running back after parting ways with Jamaal Charles this past offseason. Charles was injured and aging and letting him go was the right decision, but the running game was ugly this past season without him on the field. Spencer Ware was ineffective after week seven and Charcandrick West was useless and probably won’t even make the team next year.

This is a fantastic pick for the Chiefs and they did a great job waiting it out and still getting a tremendous running back who can do wonders with his legs.

Even with Hunt now on the team, I wouldn’t be shocked if the Chiefs opted to go with another running back later on in this draft. That’s how stacked this class is.

What do you think, Chiefs fans? Are you pumped about Kareem Hunt joining your squad?
