Here’s the bottom line as far as I see it: As long as the Royals are team for which you’re displaying your fandom, I don’t really care what category of fan you fall under.

Sure, there are those fans that annoy me. The “I’m done watching. Somebody call me when they’re good again” fan is especially irksome, but to each their own I suppose.

Yes, in the past couple of seasons I’ve seen everything form of bashing of ‘fair weather’, ‘bandwagon’, ‘true’, ‘new school’, ‘soft’, ‘insert adjective here’ fans that you can imagine, but I encountered one on Monday night that I hadn’t seen before.

Maybe it’s because I never grouped myself in with any of those people who were ‘under attack’ prior to this comment, but this one struck me as one I needed to really explain myself on.

The comment, more or less, was to the effect of ‘I’m frustrated and if you’re not frustrated, then you’re not a real Royals’ fan’.

As long as the Royals are team for which you’re displaying your fandom, I don’t really care what category of fan you fall under.

As previously stated, I’ve always considered myself the reactionary, armchair manager type who was quick to judge the actions of the coach, or lack thereof, and went on the occasional rant about how we got ‘Yosted’ that day.

I was the guy who let every loss get me down during the 2015 season, and often aggravated my small audience with my negativity. When the Royals won the whole shebang, I turned over a new leaf. Where once, I was quick to judge the action, or more accurately the inaction, of the coaching staff, I gained trust in the process.

Last year and this year, when the Royals lose, it just doesn’t bother me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not fun to watch, and I’d much prefer that they win, but it’s not a day ruiner anymore.

There are a lot of fans questioning how anyone can’t be frustrated or even downright angry with the product that’s in front of all of us as fans right now, and I just can’t bring myself to get there.
