2017 NFL Draft: KC Kingdom Mock Draft

New Orleans Saints – Leigh Oleszczak

Budda Baker. 32. player. 15. The Saints decide to shore up their secondary and add Budda Baker to their ranks with the final pick in the first round. The Saints’ rebuild on defense has taken some time, but they’re getting close to rounding the corner. Pairing Baker with Von Bell and Kenny Vaccaro will help the safety spot be one that’s pretty dang good for years to come. Safety. Washington

KC Kingdom Scouting Report:

Simply put, Budda Baker is a phenomenal athlete and football player. He has been a key member of the Washington football program since his freshman year. Baker has earned all conference accolades in all three years playing at the NCAA level. There are very few people in this draft that can be called better football players.

Insider Talk – NFL.com:

“I would leave him as a centerfielder and then roll him down over the slot if you needed too. He’s too small to cover tight ends, but he’s got great instincts in coverage which is why he should shine as a single-high.” – NFC area scout

Staff Reaction:

The Saints are walking out of the first round with a completely revamped secondary. That’s a step in the right direction for them. I like this pick a lot. ~ Ben Almquist
