2017 NFL Draft: KC Kingdom Mock Draft

San Francisco 49ers – Thomas Hawkins

2. player. 42. John Lynch will go with the best player available and since Garrett is already off the board that is Hooker. The 49ers need a player with his skill set in this pass happy league.. Safety. Ohio State. Malik Hooker

KC Kingdom Scouting Report:

Hooker possesses great instincts and those instincts really help him to get ahead of or anticipate the play, despite not having great speed.  He has the frame teams are typically looking for at the safety position at 6’2″ and 205 lbs.

Insider Talk – NFL.com:

“Hook(er) is still so raw and you see him making all of those plays. He’s a player who will come in and look bad his first year and then be an all-pro by his third year. I think that’s his arc. No short-cut for experience.” ~ Personnel director for AFC team

Staff Reaction:

There is no doubt that Malik Hooker is one of the best players in this draft. However, I’m not sure I agree he’s the best player…or even safety…available here. I rate Jamal Adams higher at safety, and think he’d be a better choice in this spot. ~ Ben Almquist
