EDDIE WILSON

42 GAMES, ONE START

In the 19th round of the 1962 AFL Draft, the Dallas Texans selected Eddie Wilson, who went on to play in 42 games during his time with the franchise. Wilson wasn’t anything great, only starting one game at quarterback during his three years as a Texan/Chief.

Wilson split time as a quarterback and as a punter, but was mostly used as a punter during his time in the league. He didn’t see a ton of time throwing the ball, passing for 994 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions in three seasons with the franchise. He also rushed for a touchdown with Kansas City.

It’s interesting to see that Wilson mainly spent time as a punter with the Chiefs, but was drafted as a quarterback. Perhaps he shouldn’t have been included on this list, but he did throw for nearly 1,000 yards, even if it wasn’t as a true quarterback in the pros.

The 1960s were a crazy time in football, I guess.
