The Kansas Jayhawk All-Time Team: The Bench

Honorable Mentions

Lets look at some of the players that didn’t exactly make the cut on the starting five, but would serve as great backups and bench players for the all-time team. These players are great in of themselves and would still make a unrelenting stellar team on their own.

Darnell Valentine, PG, Years Played: 1978-1981

Darnell Valentine never dominated as much as he did in the NBA as he did in college, but he was one heck of a college basketball point guard. For the entire course of his career, Valentine averaged 15.4 points, 3.6 total rebounds, and a 47.6 field goal percentage per SportsReference.

Sherron Collins, SG, Years Played: 2006-2010

Sherron Collins is easily remembered as an all-time favorite for Kansas Jayhawk fans. Collins truly loved Lawrence and the school he played for, and he was a pretty decent player, too. Collins averaged 13.2 points, 2.4 total rebounds, 3.9 assists, and held a 44.4 field goal percentage per SportsReference.

Raef LaFrentz, PF, Years Played: 1994-1998

Raef LaFrentz was an outstanding forward player one that owned college basketball, and then went on to play in the NBA and make himself more lethal with a three point shot. LaFrentz averaged 15.8 points, 9.1 total rebounds, and held a 55.5 field goal percentage per SportsReference.

Nick Collison, SF, Years Played: 1999-2003

Nick Collison is 6′ 9″ so he should honestly be a power forward, but he needed to be mentioned here. Collison is an athletic and smooth forward that still plays today. In college he averaged 14.8 points, 8 total rebounds, and held a 56.2 field goal percentage per SportsReference.

Clyde Lovellette, C, Years Played: 1949-1952

Clyde Lovellette is a cherished Jayhawk that recently passed away, but what cannot be forgotten is how he tore up the college basketball scene back when he played. Lovellette averaged a whopping 24.5 points, and held a 45.2 field goal percentage per SportsReference.
