LORENZO CAIN

No one was hotter in the series against the Angels than Lorenzo Cain, who had four hits and scored two runs. Cain’s current slash line is .350/.490/.400 through 12 games.

Cain has been one of the Royals’ best hitters so far this season, but he’s still yet to hit a home run. When Cain was Kansas City’s best hitter in 2015, he crushed 16 home runs. That was his year and the Royals need him to get back to that form if they want to be a playoff contender.

One of the best aspects of Cain’s game this season is that he’s been walking more than usual. He already has 11 walks in 12 games and we all know that when Cain gets on base, he has the speed to score from first on a bloop single (see 2015 ALCS Game 6 if you need a reminder).

Cain also still has it defensively. He had several great plays in the outfield in the Angels series and prevented the Halos from tacking on more runs.

Tuesday night’s match-up will see Cain square off against Matt Cain of the Giants, so it’ll be Cain versus Cain on the diamond. Hopefully our Cain reigns supreme in that battle.
