Kansas City Chiefs: Players To Avoid #5

Adrian Peterson – RB

With the Kansas City Chiefs having moved on from Jamaal Charles, there is a clear need at running back. There is little doubt that Adrian Peterson is the biggest name at running back on the free agent market. That will undoubtedly have some fans talking about the potential of Peterson in KC. However, this would be a very poor match of player and team.

Sure, when healthy, Adrian Peterson can be an unstoppable beast. However, it’s been a while since we could really describe Peterson as healthy. Now in his 30s, every hit lingers just a little bit longer. It’s why being 30 years old is such a flag these days. Running backs just rack up the wear and tear on their bodies.

On top of that, the running style of Adrian Peterson simply does not match the Chiefs offense. We saw that last year as both Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West, who are very talented, were unable to get things going. That direct approach does not fit the KC offensive line. Besides, this year’s draft class is loaded with talented running backs. A much better investment.
