Kansas City Chiefs: Free Agents To Avoid #6

Tony Romo – Quarterback

Just a month ago, there was major noise from many Kansas City Chiefs fans about getting Tony Romo. Fortunately, that talk died down as the Chiefs made it abundantly clear that they had no interest. Since then, Tony Romo has left football altogether to take up a job as a broadcaster. Don’t be surprised if some KC fans start calling for him again.

Of course, this would still be foolishness. On top of not having played any meaningful football in almost two years, Tony Romo is now not even working out. Don’t fool yourself, that is incredibly important. Think about Carson Palmer‘s return to the NFL when the Raiders signed him. Didn’t go so well.

The only case in which the Chiefs would even consider Tony Romo is an injury to Alex Smith. However, Kansas City should be adding another quarterback in the draft. Between that rookie and Tyler Bray, KC has to have some kind of an option as a backup to Smith.
