LORENZO CAIN

Lorenzo Cain tore it up against the A’s and actually managed to get his batting average over the .300 mark after Wednesday’s game. His current batting average is .345 after two great games against Oakland.

The most impressive stat about Cain is that he’s walked ten times in nine games. His plate discipline has been great lately and the Royals will need Cain to return to that 2015 form if they want to get anywhere close to contending for the playoffs this year.

Cain’s .345 batting average shows that he’s still the guy the Royals expected him to be and maybe he can wind up staying in Kansas City past this season. Twice during Wednesday’s game Cain got on base, but his teammates couldn’t help him out and get him to home plate. It was frustrating, as Cain was having his best game of the season and was getting zero help.

The center fielder had a nice birthday on Thursday, going two-for-three with an RBI and walking once. He’s getting hot and that’s a great sign for Royals fans.

With a first time starter on Friday night in Ramirez, Cain should see plenty of opportunities to stay hot at the plate. The KC Royals certainly need him to.
