SCOTT ALEXANDER

Scott Alexander just joined the Royals on Wednesday after Matt Strahm was sent to Omaha after three horrible outings. Alexander then pitched that Wednesday night against the Athletics.

It hadn’t been a great night for the Royals in any area, but Alexander was the highlight for sure. The 27-year old lefty pitched 2.1 scoreless innings without even allowing a hit. Perhaps the A’s lineup was just fatigued from constantly hitting off of Jason Hammel, Travis Wood, and Chris Young, but Alexander looked amazing on the mound.

Alexander was decent in 2016, throwing 19 innings and posting a 3.32 ERA during that time. Fans thought Alexander had a good shot at making the final roster, but he was sent to Omaha. Now he’s getting to prove himself and unless he completely falters down the stretch, I think Scott Alexander could be a legitimate weapon out of the bullpen for the Kansas City Royals.

The Royals have a variety of left-handed pitchers in their bullpen right now, but Alexander has made a quick case to be the one to go to in dire situations.
