Sporting KC Match Grades

Individual Performances

It was a solid overall night for Sporting KC. Several players especially stood out, as you might expect in a 3-1 victory. It was pretty tough to pick out exactly who should be highlighted in a performance like this. However, ultimately you have to credit Seth Sinovich and Dom Dwyer.

A. . D. Sporting KC. SETH SINOVICH

A tip of the cap to Seth Sinovich as the defender made his presence felt on the offensive side of the ball. Sinovich not only assisted in Dom Dwyer’s late goal, but also had one for himself. Sinovich scored the first goal of the game on a solid rebound shot that easily got past the keeper. It’s rare that a defender gets a chance to score, but to also have an assist, that’s a very good game.

A. . F. Sporting KC. DOM DWYER

Sporting KC’s ace finally came alive in this match. Dwyer had been held in check by opposing defenses until this game, but came alive with a goal and an assist. Dwyer had the opening assist on a beautiful goal by Gerso Fernandes. Later in the match, the newly-sworn American citizen would put a dagger in Colorado with a nice shot that found the net.

With this win, Sporting KC is firmly in the mix in the Western Conference. They have a couple of tough matches ahead with the Portland Timbers and Dallas FC on the schedule. However, coming out of those two matches with at least one win (or at worst no losses) would be huge. Hopefully the goals will continue to come.
