Kansas City Royals Series Grades

Game 3: Royals Lose 4-5

A blown opportunity for the Kansas City Royals who led late in this game. It was once again the dreaded seventh inning that did them in. However, KC did continue to show some decent play that should have the fans feeling a little bit more confident. Losing on a bases loaded walk hurts though.

C. A blown save opportunity keeps the Royals below .500, but at least they’re starting to show some life. Can’t issue a bases loaded walk in extra innings though.. L. Kansas City Royals. GAME THREE

A solid game for Nate Karns in his Royals debut was blown by the bullpen…again. Travis Wood let this one go when instead of getting one out, he gave up a two-run home run. The loss though belongs to Matt Strahm, who is quickly becoming everyone’s least favorite KC pitcher. Strahm loaded the bases and then walked in the winning run in the 12th. Sigh.

The bats weren’t great in this one, but Salvador Perez did continue his nice tear. Perez hit his fourth home run in four games. However, KC could have used some more production in the late innings. The Royals will need to be able to hit late in games with the current state of the bullpen.
