The Kansas City Royals looked to find some wins on the road against the Houston Astros. We hand out grades for the series.

Coming off of the wrong side of a series sweep against the Twins, the Kansas City Royals headed to Houston to face the Astros. The Royals came into this series in big need of their first win of the year. They found it in the series opener, giving some signs of life and hope to a fan base already fearing the worst.

In need of a big win, the Royals got a pair of them, taking two of three from the Astros. This was a pleasant surprise for KC fans. The Astros are (or at least expected to be) a much better team than the Twins. So we can all hold out hope that the boys in blue just had some opening week jitters.

For his own part, Royals manager Ned Yost has apparently already moved on from the opening series sweep in Minnesota. He made that much clear to Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star. It looks as though the rest of the team has moved on as well. Hopefully fans will follow suit.

What was most encouraging in this series was that the bats absolutely came to life. That is especially true of the Royals power hitters. Through six games, Mike Moustakas has 3 home runs and Salvador Perez has 4. That’s an impressive display of power from a team not known for big sticks.

It can be tough to follow along with a full 162 game season of baseball. However, we know that Royals fans don’t want to miss out on anything from the boys in blue. So we’ll bring you all you need to know about how the team is looking as the season progresses. Be sure to check in regularly for our series grades!
