With the confetti cleared off the floor and a National Champion crowned that is not KU basketball, it is time to start thinking about next season. One of the hot topics concerning next season is the departures that will dictate the roster.

After having an outstanding regular season, the Kansas Jayhawks should continue to have success across the board with next season’s roster. That success also depends on how the roster shapes up, and who leaves or stays.

Some departures are inevitable. For example, senior leaders Frank Mason III and Landen Lucas have finished their careers as a Jayhawk. Others, however, are still deciding on what the future holds for them.

Of the many players that had outstanding seasons last year, some may consider the NBA. Whether they depart for the professional leagues can depend on many aspects including the future of their career at Kansas, the potential for injury, the rise and fall of their draft stock, and draft potential.

The players that had the best seasons can pretty much be considered as good as gone. With the NBA scouts drooling over their performances there is pretty much no chance these prospects will not pass up the big bucks.

So, who will stay and who will go? Right now, it looks as if there are about three players from last season that have a chance to leave and head to the draft. Let’s take a look at the chances these guys have of going on to big time play in the NBA.
