2017 NFL Draft: Teams Looking to Draft a Quarterback in First Round
ARIZONA CARDINALS (13TH OVERALL PICK)
As much as I like Carson Palmer, he doesn’t have much left in the tank and he showcased that last season. Palmer is aging and he’s injury prone, which are two deadly combinations if you’re a quarterback in the NFL.
Palmer has indicated that he’s returning for the 2017 season, but Arizona would be flat-out stupid not to draft someone in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Unless they go offensive line or add depth to the defense, I don’t see how the Cardinals don’t go after a quarterback in round one.
Seth Cox of Revenge of the Birds covered both Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. mocking quarterbacks to Arizona, stating,
"I have always said… Names mean less than positions, but it is becoming alarming how many mocks have the Cardinals taking a QB. That means it is either well known, or the Cardinals have no interest and have done an excellent job of throwing everyone off the trail of who they really want at 13."
Arizona’s defense has been pretty good over the last few years and they still have Larry Fitzgerald holding things down at the wide receiver spot. Unless they go offensive line or add depth to the defense, I don’t see how the Cardinals don’t go after a quarterback in round one.
