2017 NFL Draft: Teams Looking to Draft a Quarterback in First Round
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (FOURTH OVERALL PICK)
I wouldn’t have included the Jaguars on this list, but it was reported on Wednesday that Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was visiting Jacksonville.
Hey, it’s certainly possible that Jacksonville is ready to move on from the Blake Bortles era, but I still think they’ll go elsewhere with their first round pick. Bortles has shown potential early in his career, but had a lackluster 2016 campaign… so here we are discussing his team about being done with him.
Jacob DeFee of Black and Teal has the Jags selecting Solomon Thomas, a defensive end out of Stanford. That would be a nice pick for Jacksonville, as they have a decent defense that should be on the rise and they need to keep building on that.
Bortles is still a young guy and I see the Jaguars giving him one more season before giving up on him. They spent their third overall pick in 2014 on him and that’d be pretty quick to give up on such a high draft pick.
