Game 2: Royals Lose 1-9

Yes, it actually got worse for the Kansas City Royals in game two of the series. After being embarrassed by the Twins in the opener, KC apparently picked up where they left off. Being out-scored 16-2 in your first two games doesn’t raise many hopes. Of course, this had Royals fans losing their minds on social media.

Kansas City Royals. GAME TWO. F-. Yeah…somehow it got worse. Hopefully this isn’t a precursor of things to come..

The story here was another seventh inning failure from Matt Strahm and the bullpen. The Royals postseason success was due in large part to a strong bullpen, so this is very disconcerting. Kansas City has identified a clear weakness early in the season. Hopefully they can get this group turned around quickly.

The bats were quiet again today with just four hits. In all reality, it didn’t matter how terrible the bullpen was. If you can’t score any runs, you’re not going to win anyways. Nine strikeouts versus only four hits and two walks (plus Alex Gordon being hit by a pitch) was the story here. You cannot strike out more than you are getting on base. That’s pretty embarrassing.
