Worst John Dorsey Picks For The Kansas City Chiefs #4

Aaron Murray – QB: 5th Round of 2014 NFL Draft

I can’t tell you how many hours I spent arguing over the Kansas City Chiefs backup quarterbacks the past couple of years. The main culprit? Aaron Murray, a former blue chip quarterback who the Chiefs grabbed in the fifth round of the 2014 draft. This man was the bane of my sports writing career for two whole seasons before he was finally sent packing.

Aaron Murray spent two seasons in Kansas City NOT beating out Chase Daniel for the backup job. Then he DIDN’T beat out Kevin Hogan and was sent packing. Murray would get tryout opportunities with the Cardinals and Eagles, but neither kept him around. He is currently getting a shot at a backup job with the Rams.

Who Could They Have Had?

I’ll keep this one pretty simple…the Chiefs could have had a legitimate backup quarterback in AJ McCarron. While Aaron Murray has bounced around, McCarron has showed his stuff on the field and is now a guy getting some trade talk around him. With decent quarterbacks becoming a rare commodity, McCarron would be a nice fallback option for the Chiefs.
