Worst John Dorsey Picks For The Kansas City Chiefs #5

Nico Johnson – LB: 4th Round of 2013 NFL Draft

Every Kansas City Chiefs fan has that one guy who they were so sure of, but ultimately didn’t pan out. For me, that was Nico Johnson. I thought the inside linebacker from Alabama was the perfect player to put next to Derrick Johnson. Turns out, I was wrong and Johnson was gone after just one season in KC.

The Chiefs may have tried to work with Nico Johnson, having put him on the Practice Squad. However, he was picked up by the Bengals before bouncing around the NFL. The Chiefs never looked back, instead focusing heavily on inside linebackers the next two years. Currently, Johnson is a free agent, having spent last year with the Giants.

Who Could They Have Had?

It may have taken some time to see it through, but David Bakhtiari eventually became an All Pro tackle. He was taken by the Packers 10 picks after the Chiefs selected Nico Johnson. This is another tough one to swallow as the Chiefs certainly did have a need for another tackle…even after drafting Eric Fisher in the first.
