CONNOR MCGOVERN (Fifth-Round Pick, 144th Overall in 2016 NFL Draft)

Connor McGovern went from beloved in the state of Missouri to not-so-loved, as he became a member of the Denver Broncos on draft day.

Somehow even with all of the Broncos’ problems along that offensive front, McGovern still wasn’t able to sniff playing time.

While not McGovern’s fault, he’s the second guy from Mizzou football to be drafted by the Broncos in two years and that’s just painful for any MU fan.

The former Tiger spent two seasons at his alma mater before hitting the NFL Draft as a potential addition to an NFL team’s offensive line.

McGovern has yet to appear in a game for Denver, but hopefully year two will allow him to showcase his talents along a Bronco offensive line that struggled in 2016. He did head into the 2016 season in a battle with two other lineman, but lost out to those guys.

An article on McGovern released last September by Cameron Wolfe of The Denver Post  noted that the young lineman was probably thinking too much when playing.

"McGovern said he’s had some of the early struggles that many young offensive linemen have with consistency and being hesitant because he’s thinking too much at times."

Somehow even with all of the Broncos’ problems along that offensive front, McGovern still wasn’t able to sniff playing time. That’s a bit concerning and hopefully he can figure it out moving forward.
