Eric Berry – Safety (Re-Signed)
Yes, the Kansas City Chiefs finally paid the man his money. Eric Berry is now the highest paid safety in the NFL, and it is much-deserved. The big news here is that Berry signed a six year deal. If he plays that out, it is almost ensured that he will finish his career with the Chiefs. Not a bad trade off when you consider he’s already a multi-year All Pro.
Plain and simple, Eric Berry has become the face of the Kansas City Chiefs over the past few seasons. His battle with cancer and epic return to the field is the kind of thing that will be a movie one day. On top of that, Berry is still one of the best all around people in the NFL. He is friendly with the fans, active in the community, and passionate about helping others going through cancer as he did. This deal had to be done.
There was a lot of pressure on John Dorsey to get this deal done, especially after Eric Berry played on the franchise tag in 2016. There was no way the Chiefs could have afforded to let their star safety walk after everything that has happened.
