TANNER HAWKINSON (Fifth-Round Pick, 156th Overall in 2013 NFL Draft)

Two years before Ben Heeney heard his name called, Tanner Hawkinson was KU football’s only representative in the draft. He was a fifth-round selection by the Bengals in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Hawkinson spent two seasons with the team that drafted him and then was a member of the 49ers practice squad in 2015. He saw playing time with the Eagles later on that same season.

Recently, Tanner Hawkinson was a member of Jacksonville’s practice squad, and hopefully will be able to remain with the Jaguars and keep his NFL career going.

Overall, Hawkinson appeared in four total games, but has yet to see a start as a professional offensive lineman. With Jacksonville needing to bolster their offensive line, perhaps Hawkinson will get another chance to prove himself.

If not, he’s still in the league, which is impressive for a fifth-round pick out of Kansas.
