STEVE MATTHEWS – Seventh Round Pick (199th Overall) in 1994 NFL Draft

Despite being a seventh round pick in 1994 by the KC Chiefs, Steve Matthews did see some playing time in the pros. He spent three seasons with the Chiefs and ended his career with stints in Jacksonville and Tennessee.

During his time with the latter two teams, Matthews started one game and appeared in three total. He threw for 299 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

Being a seventh round pick and amounting to anything is impressive enough, but Steve Matthews became just another quarterback drafted by the Chiefs who didn’t work out for the organization, which isn’t anything new to Chiefs fans.

Matthews was out of the league after the 1998 season and this just resulted in yet another failed quarterback selection.

When will this trend change?
