PAT BARNES – Fourth Round Pick (110th Overall) in 1997 NFL Draft

It was nearly a decade between when the Chiefs drafted Pat Barnes and James Kilian, and maybe that’s because Barnes did not pan out for Kansas City.

After spending a fourth round pick on the California Golden Bear, Barnes never saw the field during his tenure with the KC Chiefs. He spent seven years playing football, but not all of them came in the NFL.

Barnes appeared in one NFL game, which was with the 49ers in 1999. Before that, he had played for the Frankfurt Galaxy, where he actually fared quite well.

After his NFL dreams were dashed, Barnes spent a year in the quickly-banished XFL as a member of the San Francisco Demons. His last year in football was in 2003.

Pat Barnes was yet another quarterback selection that didn’t work out for the Kansas City Chiefs.
